to the Studio of Joseph E. Criscuoli
I first picked up a paintbrush in 1979 and earned a degree in Advertising Design from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1982. You can learn more about me through my LinkedIn profile. I live in Laurel, Maryland and paint in a small room in my home assisted by Grace, my wife and designated “creative consultant.” For me, painting is a simple exercise in the elimination of tension and, if you enjoy what I’ve created; if what you see gives you reason to smile or causes a bit of surprise, then my day is a bit brighter. Upon seeing my work, many are surprised that I use acrylic paints and have asked why I have not tried oil-based paints. Acrylics are my chosen medium because they don’t require the use of solvents that smell up the house – nor do they ignite very easily.
